The story is set in 1899 and revolves around a passenger ship Kerberos traveling from London to New York. The passengers from different countries are going through different phases of their lives, thinking about making big in the city of dreams, New York
Plus points: The writing of the show has been of the highest order. The plot is neatly and logically written.
Each episode has a solid twist toward the end that will surely blow the minds
Minus points: There are a few sequences that would bore the audience. The character establishments take more time, and the makers should have made things exciting from the word go. A bit more fast-paced screenplay was very much needed for a series of this standard.
Prometheus, a lost steamship, sends a signal to its sister ship Kerberos four months after its disappearance
The ship that carried more than 1000 passengers manages to send a signal, and Captain Eyk Larsen (Andreas Pietschmann) decides to chase the signal despite it being seven hours in the opposite direction
When they reach the coordinates and inspect the ghost ship, they find nothing but a small boy carrying a mysterious pyramid
All of a sudden, people onboard the ship start dying, one after the other
1899 treads a risky path of interspersing a carefully-written plot with tighter subplots
